The National Statistics Office (NSO), in partnership with UNDP Malawi, is proud to announce that its groundbreaking Sexual and GenderBased Violence (SGBV) Digital Observatory Hub has been selected as one of the top 360 digital development initiatives globally in the prestigious World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2025.

Out of 972 submissions from around the world, the SGBV Observatory Hub was recognised for its transformative role in digitising and harmonising gender-based violence data collection in Malawi. This recognition positions Malawi on the global stage as a leader in harnessing digital innovation to promote gender justice and social protection.

The Observatory Hub, accessible at https://www.nsogbv.mw, is a multisectoral data platform that captures data on SGBV, harmful practices, and sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) from the community to national levels. It integrates data from Community Victim Support Units (CVSUs), police, and the judiciary, enabling evidencebased planning and policy formulation.
