NATIONAL STATISTICAL OFFICE PRESS RELEASE 

For Immediate Release 24th February 2025 Zomba FAKE POPULATION AND HOUSING CENSUS ADVERT 

It has come to the attention of the National Statistical Office (NSO) that an advert is circulating through social media platforms calling for applications for the posts of census supervisors and enumerators for the Population and Housing Census. The said advert has a link that directs unsuspecting users to a website where they are required to fill in their personal information. This advert is FAKE! 

The public is hereby informed that the NSO has neither issued any advert related to the Population and Housing Census nor is it recruiting any temporary enumerators and supervisors for the same. The NSO adverts are duly signed by the Commissioner of Statistics and are shared through the official NSO channels and renown media houses. The public may wish to know that the Population and Housing Census is conducted every 10 years, and the next census is planned to be conducted in 2028. 

The NSO is therefore appealing to the general public to disregard this fake advert and to always verify information regarding the office by contacting the Commissioner of Statistics, National Statistical Office, Box 333, Zomba or call 0111625130 or email commissioner@nso.gov.mw or enquiries@nso.gov.mw.
